We came up with the idea of calling our community efforts The Rainbow Cross. A gay take off of the concept of the name "Red Cross".

We are not the Red Cross nor are we affiliated with them. We are not trying to do what they do. We are not seeking any donations. We are all volunteers. We do not provide any social services.

Organizations providing services are welcome to post what services your group or agency can provide.

Organizations putting on fundraisers or seeking donations to help with the relief efforts are welcome to post your events on this yahoo group.

We are a group of people from different gay and lesbian organizations working together. Our goal is to be a source of information for the gay men and women who are now refugees of Hurricane Gustav.

We are networking with service agencies in our community to ensure we can offer updated information to all the gay and lesbian refugees.

We will try to provide updated information on housing, medical needs, food and clothing.
