Description

The site was created to allow those with Ancestral Roots belonging to the village of Hostów ( Hostiv, Gostev, Gostiv Pop 1983-36% Polish in Y1907)and Tarnowica Polna (Ternovytsa, Pop 1798 -90% Polish) located 3 km apart to connect with their ancestral history within Eastern Galicia(Pokucie/Kresy). These villages are located midway between Tlumacz and Ottynia(Otynya) in the Stanislawow region of Poland prior to WWII(Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine today). The Greek Catholic Church was located in Hostów, whilst the Roman Catholic Church was located at Tarnowica Polna. The ethnically mixed community was mainly Polish and Ukrainian. However, there was also a Jewish presence and a Germanic based community called Konstantynowka(pop 282) located between the main villages. Mixed marriages between Poles and Ruthenians created bonds between every family - so yes everyone is pretty much related to everyone. Today descendents of these towns reside in USA, Canada, Scotland, England, Germany, Poland, Australia, Argentina and of course Ukraine. Names present in Hostów village area prior to WWII included; Grzegorczyn, Holij, Andrzejczuk, Ostryzniuk, Jaciuk, Krzyszczuk, Barczuk, Kruk, Glaba, Jasnikowski, Horczuk,Kolt, Kott, Petryszyn, Fediuk, Huk, Markiewicz, Marksylewicz, Mach, Moskaluk, Farynowicz, Lysenczuk, Szmigiel, Szposz, Labaczuk, Nowakowska, Gacek, Zborowska, Hajdasz, Kwak, Stelmaszczuk, Pocion, Wawrzinec, Szeremeta, Zborowska, Burak, Buœ, Szarniel, Melnyczuk, Kopka, Chryn, Kwas. Other villages in the immediate vicinity included; Przyby³ow, Bortniki, Puzniki, Bohorodyczyn, Krasilówka, Stare Krzywotuly, Nowe Krywotuly, Karolówka, Gruszka, Czarnolozce, Targowica and Grabicz.Name Grzegorczyn(Hryhorchyn in Ukr).
