      Wie viel mehr moslemische Intoleranz ist die zivilisierte Welt gewillt zu tolerieren? Eine ganze Menge, wenn zwei Ereignisse dieser Woche Hinweise dafür sind. Im ersten Fall wies der britische Premierminister Tony Blair den Vorschlag ranghoher Berater ab, den Schoah-Gedenktag in Großbritannien abzuschaffen. Die Berater waren der Ansicht, das jährliche Gedenken an die Schoah könnte die Moslems in Großbritannien kränken.
      Im zweiten Fall entwarf das Internationale Komitee des Roten Kreuzes einen Vorschlag, nach dem Israels Roter Davidstern sein Logo einer mehr „neutralen“ Kristallform anpassen solle, damit moslemische Länder nicht so sehr gekränkt seien  wie sie es durch das jetzige Symbol des Davidsterns sind.
      Es ist sicherlich ein positives Zeichen, dass Blair so viel gesunden Menschenverstand besaß, um die Idee abzuschlagen, den Schoah-Gedenktag in einen umfassenderen „Genozid-Tag“ einzugliedern, der vermutlich zur Bühne pro-palästinensischer Proteste geworden wäre. Was allerdings Sorgen bereitet ist die Tatsache, dass Blairs ranghohe Berater diesen gesunden Menschenverstand nicht besaßen. Dass sie fähig sind, solch eine Idee überhaupt einzubringen, zeigt, wie sehr Europa moslemischem Antisemitismus nachgibt. >>

         The British Embassy told the Foreign Ministry that the arrest warrant against former IDF chief of Southern Command Doron Almog was canceled.
         The cancellation was on technical and procedural grounds and it did not imply that Almog or others are immune from future legal proceedings in Britain. Almog was advised by Israel's embassy in London not to disembark from an El Al flight there last week because of warrant for his arrest on war crimes charges. Almog, who was going to a London fundraiser for an organization he heads called Alei Hanegev that builds homes for handicapped children, remained on the plane and flew back to London. Earlier this week, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon used humor to get across to British Prime Minister Tony Blair Israel's displeasure at the arrest warrant that a British judge issued for former IDF Gaza commander, Doron Almog. "I really wanted to go to England, but now am having second thoughts," Sharon said. "I know something about British jails, have heard a lot about them, and don't want anything to do with them." Officials in Sharon's office said that Blair replied that the British government had nothing to do with the matter, and that Britain is governed by an independent judiciary. At the same time, Blair promised to look into the matter. The warrant was reportedly canceled because Almog was no longer on British soil and was thus out of the jurisdiction of the British court system.

      TEL AVIV — Israel has examined a plan to establish a $900 million security system along the 200-kilometer border with Egypt.
      Officials said Israel's withdrawal from the Gaza Strip has provided Palestinians with unregulated entry to Sinai. They said more than 15,000 Palestinians have entered the Sinai over the last five days and many of them plan to infiltrate Israel. >>

      The former Gush Katif settlement bloc in south Gaza looked largely deserted on Wednesday aside from Palestinian security units. Gone were the legions of Palestinian revellers, looters and armed militants who swamped it on Monday and Tuesday.
      But crowds were expected to return to Neve Dekalim, the largest of the ex-enclaves where 8,500 Jews lived, later in the day for an official mass Palestinian Authority celebration to be addressed by President Mahmoud Abbas. >>
