This discussion group was started as an online version of The Homeschool Kitchen, a popular column in Home Education Magazine, written by Christine Gable, which ran for a few years, ending with the Jan/Feb, 2009 issue. The introduction below ran when the column first started:
Amidst the incomplete sentences, algebraic equations, hands-on history projects and baskets of laundry that miraculously seem to multiply in the course of a homeschooling parent's day, there is the ever-present need to feed a hungry family. Wouldn't it be great to open the pantry or fridge and have inspiration strike at mealtime?
Join us for cooking ideas and nutritional tips, family-friendly recipes and hints, and before long, young and old will be measuring, chopping, sauteing and stirring together!
When Christine Gable retired, this discussion group continued offering recipes, menus, tips and ideas about cooking, and most importantly, an online source of networking, information, resources, and friendship. As a service to homeschooling families, HEM continues to support this unique group.
