Dear Member:

We welcome your membership in THE HOMELESS NEWS DIGEST - An applied research
site compiling published and broadcast news on the 'Life Disaster'
called "Homelessness" in the United States.

Current research indicates that 2.3 to 3.5 million people experience
an episode of homelessness every year, while 800,000 to 900,000
people are without shelter every night - right here in America.

For another year, this applied research site will archive
direct news on homelessness and affordable housing from published
news sources only.

Articles will be posted without comment or opinion. If you wish to
discuss or make comments about an article, please post your email
to hcc@... and we will try to respond to your comments
or questions.

If you are interested in "those called homeless," please help by
submitting leads for published newspaper, magazine, radio or TV
articles via email or fax - even if you are not an active member
or subscriber.

To submit a news lead (or a full article) in any format, email or
Fax it - 24 hrs a day - 7 days a week - to HomelessNews@yahoogroups.com
or send it to e-Fax 1-775-306-6428.

Each posting should include the "Head Line" of the article, the
name of the news source, city/state, and your name. (Please
include the news source web address if possible.)

To manage your personal membership, please select the way you would
like to receive your copies of the Homeless News articles each day:

1. Drop us a note, tell us your selection, and we will set the
delivery system for you

2. Go to the Web Homepage at:

Articles are delivered in one plain text email batch (of up to 25

your computers hard disk.

Note: The average length of this version
is 20 to 25 pages of plain text.

2. "Special Announcement Digest"
[One email of the new article 'titles' with live links each day]

Email is sent every day as the "SPECIAL NEWS DIGEST" - A daily
table of contents of all postings - with live links to individual
articles.

This is a good option if you do NOT want the full text of all of
the news articles downloaded to your computers hard disk every day,
but DO want to know of all additions and updates - especially those
from your area or subjects of personal interest.

With this option, you can access articles online or download
specific articles by clicking on the "live link" under each
title.

OR you can go to the website at:

and just scroll through the articles

Note:  The average length of this version
is one to two printer pages of plain text.

3. "Individual Emails"
[Individual articles via email as soon as they are posted 24/7]

Messages are delivered individually - in real time - to your
inbox. This is the best option if you want to keep up with real
time postings of the articles immediately - hour by hour.

With this option, you will also receive the Daily Index of
"Special Announcements Digest" as described in 2 above.

Editors Note: This is a VERY HIGH VOLUME EMAIL option
as an average of 100 to 200 news articles are added
every week.

Unless you have a site where instant messages are needed,

reccomend this choice.**

4. "No E-mail" [Do not send any email messages]

Choose this option if you wish to put your email delivery
on "Hold" for a short period - such as periods of travel
or vacation.
