Our Mission: To lessen the impact of disasters on our Hillsboro community through preparedeness and training.
The city of Hillsboro provides you with quality emergency fire and medical services. In the wake of a disaster, however, they may be unavailable due to debris and road damage, plus an overwhelming need for emergency response in all areas of the city. Some basic training in disaster survival and rescue skills would improve your ability to survive until assistance arrives.

The goal of the CERT program is to provide for community self-sufficiency during the first 72 hours after a disaster.

CERT is taught by Hillsboro firefighters. The training is free to anyone who lives or works in the City of Hillsboro.

Classes are held at the Ronler Acres Fire Station. Children 16 years of age and older are welcome when accompanied by an adult.

Disaster Communications-
CERT members are also encouraged to get their amateur radio license to assist in disaster communications. There is no Morse Code requirement for an entry-level "ham" license - just a multiple-choice test on basic electronics, FCC rules, and radio operations.
