First let me apologies for not getting this out sooner.
Mum passed on November the 4Th 2008 , at approximately 11:30 a.m.. She just laid down and went to sleep. She had just been up and done the normal things one does first thing in the morning and then went back to bed as she said she was not ready to get up yet. She ask the care giver if it was the day to change her morphine patch and her nitro patch. The care giver told her she would check the schedule and turned and moved 4 steps and checked and turned back and told mum yes and she did not respond. The care giver walked back to her and spoke to her and still no response so she shook her and nothing. She was gone.
It was an eight year journey for her to come to this point and the past few years she was confined mostly to her bed or chair and had 24 / 7 care. Now she is free of pain and back with dad and family.
The care giver called me as she could not reach my brother and I told her to call Hospice and to have them call me back.
They did and confirmed she was gone. I had them call the Mortuary and have them come and get her and told them I would be there the next day. By now it was 1 p.m.my time and a 7 1/2 hour drive for me. I finally got hold of my brother and he also was to come down the next day.
The internment was on the Nov. 10 . 2008 at crypt side and not publicized. Only my brother and I and a few neighbors were there. Steve was a basket case the whole time and is still even today if you try and talk to him about things that need to be done.
It was a busy few days and my brother and I both left for home after the services.
He had business appointments the next day and I had surgery scheduled for the 14 Th.
My surgery was minor and out patient ( stomach hernia ) but I needed to get back for it.
So now I will be laid up for 4 to 6 weeks ( I say 4 max ) and then comes the process of liquidation of every thing. What a mess that is going to be mum was a HUGE PACK RAT
I was Greatly shocked and surprised to find mum had cut me out of her trust and left every thing to my brother. She did this back in the late 80's when she was mad at me for something Steve told me. He said it was wrong and he would split things with me so we will see how it goes. So far so good.
This is a VERY BAD TIME to try and sell a home in Southern California as you all know but it must be done.
We had the home appraised back in 2006 and it appraised for $650,000.00 and now they say maybe $400,000.00 and more likely between $300,00.00 and $350,000.00 so a huge loss and Mum and Steve took out a credit line on the House to pay for the care givers so that must be repaid. So may or may not see any profit out of the house ?????? Time will tell.
Any way as soon as it is settled I am headed back to my beloved Loreto to find a place to buy and I will live out my life there enjoying life and fishing and diving and walking the beach with I hope a new Dog to replace Sadie who passed in August of this year.
Well about it from here and again I apologies for the delay but have been VERY BUSY.
Take care and enjoy life to its fullest.
Rosie
