We are a Homeschool cover open to residents of DeKalb, Jackson, Etowah, Marshall, and Cherokee Counties. Our goal is to allow homeschooled students to have relationships through various academic and recreational activities with other homeschoolers. We accomplish this through the active participation of our parents through a team effort. "MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK"
Requirements are: proof of membership to the Homeschool Legal Defense Association; list of curriculum chosen or a detailed scope and sequence; attendance records kept and turned in at our annual mandatory meeting; and starting at grade seven - mandatory testing every other year. Diploma requirements are HS transcripts kept with our required credits per subject and a score of 16 or higher on the ACT or passing of the AL Board of Education High School Exit Exam - these are required by AL colleges from homeschoolers. Special Education diplomas will be offered as well.
Activities may include; monthly field trips and Mom's Night Outs; Holiday Parties; an Education Fair; Field Day; Weekly Art and PE coop classes; and as needed with growth..Teen activities. All co-op classes and most parties will be held at Fyffe First Baptist Church.
Annual family registration for the school is $75/family or $70/family for support group members*. This is to help cover misc expenses for the parties, events, coop classes, etc. ANY homeschooler may attend MNO and Field Trips. Parties are also open to non-members for a $10 per family fee which would go towards your registration fee later if you choose to join us permanently. We post most of our events to the 'open' DeKalb County HS yahoo group if you want more information.
This yahoo group is a closed group. Meaning, to join this yahoo group, you must be a Heritage Academy of Fyffe (HAF) member or in our support group. For more information, contact Tracie Wilkins at jwilkins87@farmerstel.com
*Support Group members require only proof of HSLDA membership.
