I know a bank where the wild thyme blows, Where oxslips and the nodding violet grows, Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbane,With sweet musk roses and with eglantine.

Halloween Cake

There is an old recipe for the Hallowe'en Cake, which you will find good to follow. Heat black treacle (molasses) on the stove, mixing it well with butter. Beat them together vigorously. Pour in a generous amount of fine oatmeal, add cinnamon and cream and brown sugar and a dash of ginger. Put in a measure of the best clover honey to keep it soft, then pour out into trays and leave to cool. Decorate with little sprigs of angelica and fresh blackberries. Scrub your mouth well after partaking of it for it attacks the teeth heavily. Nettle tea goes well with this cake to wash down the sweetness and clean the teeth.

When you are done eating, and drinking, and merrymaking on this hallow's eve and your guests have gone and bidden you good night then it is time for quiet reflection and spell working. Don't forget to leave a piece of cake for you ancestors to partake when you leave for bed.
