Hellenic_Recons is for those practicing or curious about the ancient Hellenic religion (known as Dodekatheism, Hellenic Reconstructionism, Hellenismos). Hellenic religion is life changing and offers what is desperately needed in today's society - a spirituality that connects to the real world, respects and sanctifies that world, seeks truth and wisdom over dogma, and provides a full understanding and reverence for life. While we acknowledge the importance of the Mysteries and the role played by mysticism, we are concerned with mainstream aspects of traditional Hellenic religion. We reject occult or 'magical' beliefs and practices and instead, embrace a wholehearted dedication to the Gods of Hellas and a willingness to live our lives in accordance with the principles of piety, tradition, and honor. This precludes any allegiance to Christianity, magic, occultism, 'neo-paganism' (as related to Wicca and its offshoots), "ceremonial magic", "witchcraft", Hermeticism, and "theurgy".

Eclectic pagans who are truly interested in Hellenic religion and willing to adhere to the purposes of this list are welcome. All are free to post (on-topic) but ridiculous claims or ideologies will be critiqued. Any member insisting on discussing Magic and occultism will be asked to leave as this is considered off-topic.
