Description
I myself feel that as a Germanic person, fervor in striving for accuracy is itself somewhat religious. CR
Historians cannot produce the past reality, only a reconstruction of historical probabilities. Olof Sundqvist
Welcome to Heathenhistory. We provide a daily post concerning pre-1200 CE continental Germanic or Anglo-Saxon peoples, their predecessors and their neighbors. Topics include history, prehistory, archeology, anthropology, literature and related subjects. The posts are taken from various sources and generally consist of edited and/or abridged excerpts provided by the listowner from historical source materials and books on the subjects. Excerpts from copyrighted materials are posted as fair usage for discussion purposes only and you are encouraged to go to the source.
Our purpose is to share what we read with the greater Heathen community and other interested persons. No claim to expertise is made. Members' posts are welcome but these should be restricted to questions or comments on the day's post or a current thread. New members' posts are moderated to prevent spam. Posts of general interest to the group are welcome on Sunna's Day.
Previous posts consisting of basic information on various Germanic and neighboring tribes can be found in the file section. If you are new to the subject, you may wish to read _The Early Germans_ by Malcolm Todd (ISBN 1405117141).
We hope you enjoy our efforts.
