* As a result of the attack on 9-11-2001, we observe a new interest by hams to be radio-ready should there be a national or local communications emergency. Founded by Dave Hatch N9ZRT, this WEBSITE [Our primary tool] and accompanying EMAIL LIST [Our secondary tool] serve to assist in that interest. HamsEF is not an organization, rather a touchpoint for information.
*A number of HamsEF members are veterans of Ground Zero and the Pentagon following the attacks of 9/11. They willingly share their experiences and observations of the strengths and weaknesses of emergency communications in real world situations.
* ABOUT OUR MAIN WEBSITE: HamsEF serves to help hams find the already existing emergency sites and nets. Once you find the nets and information you are looking for, it is suggested that you print a hard copy of the information that you want to have on hand.
* ABOUT THE EMAIL LIST: The HamsEF email list is activated to share real-time information/discussion on emergency preparedness in light of "Operation Enduring Freedom" [OEF]. Such information may include discussion about emergency preparedness in regard to, but not limited to: Amateur Radio; breaking news and relative information [We suggest you sign-up for an automated email-news service]. This is a friendly and clean list; flaming will not be tolerated. The general rules apply: No spam, no ads, no "for sales", etc. If the posts get out of control, the Moderator may over-ride some postings or ask for a topic to be concluded. Please keep your subject line reflective of your post.
