Hi,
While surfing on net I found something interesting regarding
propagation of radio signal below 300 KHz and effect of Magnetosphere.
I performed the following experiments with my HF rig ICOM IC 77
and inverted antenna of 20M & 15M band.
1. The Hiss (like snake hiss) was noticed from 76 Khz to 83 Khz.
The strength of the signal was increased from 76 to 80 KHz and
decreased from 80 KHz to 83 KHz. At 80 KHz the signal strength was
S7 and complete quitenning.
2. AIR Lucknow main radio station (regularly transmits its signal on
747 KHz) has been received at 145 KHz ± 2 KHz. The signal strength
at 1600 Hrs UTC was zero while at 1300 Hrs UTC was S7. The main radio
transmitter is approx. 5 Km away from my QTH.
I have read that sound of rising sun (in dawn) can be heard with a
sensitive receiver and appropriate antenna.
It would be appreciated if any one please guide me about this
interesting phenomenon of low & very low frequency signal propagation
and magnetosphere.
