RICARDO ALMEDA. Ric started his college studies at Ateneo de Naga and finished them at the University of Nueva Caceres. Thereafter, he joined the Philippine National
Police. Starting in 1974 as Patrolman 1st class, he rose in rank until he became a Senior Police Officer 4. His career in PNP is star-studded. No less than 25 commendation medals were conferred upon him. He also earned the distinction of being adjudged twice as the Most Outstanding Non-commissioned Police Officer in the Bicol Region, one in 1994 and the other in the year 1995. Working on the philosophy that community cooperation will bring peace and order, he tirelessly worked to establish rapport between the police force and the community. This has enabled him to found the PNP-Civilian Association in Minabalac where he was assigned for most of his career. After retirement, his townmates egged him to run for public office, and in the elections he placed 2nd as barangay kagawad.
He is married to Emily Polon and they have five children, all boys. They are, Rimel, an ECE graduate working with Bangko Sentral, Raymer, BSBA graduate, a medical representative, Joseph an AB graduate working with CocaCola Bottlers, Inc., and Ricardo, Jr. Criminology graduate, in-between jobs. He is also an active lay minister of the Church.
