Welcome to the Howard College Estates Online Community! This group was estalished for the use of reisidents of the historical Howard College Estates, encompasing 77th Way South, 77th Place South, Vanderbilt Street, 8th Court South, 8th Ave South, Rugby Avenue, and Belmont Avenue in the East Lake suburb of Birmingham, Alabama. Named for the Baptist college that relocated to the booming East Lake community in 1887, many of the neighborhood's homes were built as early as the 1920s and are listed on the Jefferson County Historical Homes Register. Group members are invited to use this forum to discuss any neighborhood and community issues, express concerns, make announcements, or to simply engage in light conversation.
