Re: [Grow-Hops] Re: Green worm eating leaves

I haven't had a chance to get out there in the last 24 hours (kid in the hospital for heart surgery) but I gave the 6 plants I have a good exam the other day and only spotted the one bug and damage to just the one plant.

I don't expect to get much in the way out of my hops this year, but if I get anything it'll be off the plant that that little SOB decided to assault.

The next time I'll take a picture before i introduce him to the bottom of my shoe.

Jim

Hey Jim, if you want to go the whole "organic" route, this is a good article with some ideas on how to keep those little bastards off of your hops. My guess is the most effective will be utilizing "Bacillus thuringiensis, a naturally occurring bacteria that you apply to your plants to disrupt the digestion of caterpillars and other leaf-eaters." (I copied the quoted line from the article which I've linked to below. It also has other ideas on effectively controlling those leaf eating suckers!)

GOOD LUCK, and keep us posted! So far I've had a healthy hop crop this year, but it's good to hear what everyone else is going through, just so I can learn more through everyone's experiences. Cheers Jim! John
