Green Politics are (in the plural sense) often confused with environmentalism and what the media calls "Greens." It is important to ensure that those new to "Green Politics" do not see Green Politics as a mere hybrid of shallow environmentalism and electoral politics. The Green notions of "short-term" and "long-term" goals need reinforcement; for surely, our long- term goals embrace a vision beyond seven generations, or 200 years, as well as electoral politics in the short-term. The philosophies of Eco-feminism, Social Ecology, Deep Ecology, and Bio-regionalism should give guidance to discussions on what is meant by "Green Politics."
