“Green Ocean” (Vi Bien Xanh)organized in February 2002 as a coastal cleanup effort with educational value. Since inception, we’ve conducted numerous activities that occur once every two weeks with a growing number of participants and volunteers. Our activities include: raising public awareness by organizing city and beach cleanup campaigns, training courses, art competitions, eco-tours, forums, speech and song competitions, seminars, workshops, and conferences to engage communities in environment friendly activities. GO aims to encourage environment friendly practices among youth and teenagers. The initiative is now one of the most successful youth-driven environmental conservation approaches acknowledged by the Vietnamese authority, UNDP and the World Bank. Our vision now is to focus on developing and expanding “Green Ocean” into a sustainable, not-for-profit organisation in which environmental issues both in the ocean and on the ground are well addressed, resolved and bring about positive impact on environment in a long run all over Vietnam and globally.
