Wayne Madsen, who styles himself
'a Washington, DC-based investigative journalist'
and on whose 'reports' this story is partly
based, is a conspiracy-monger of the first rank and
a huckster entirely lacking in journalistic integrity.
He mixes recycled news stories from
mainstream news outlets with dubious speculation
in the hope of bowling over the gullible reader
with his faux 'insider information.'
His favorite device is to cite 'unnamed sources',
'Washington insiders' and 'my source, who asks to
remain anonymous' and such.
In this story, for example, he uses that ploy several
times:
Defense sources have confirmed...
The sources claim...
There is also speculation that...
There is also intense speculation about...
... reportedly involved ...
These are red flags (not to be confused with
'The Worker's Flag is Brightest Red...)
for anyone concerned about sourcing.
And, as I am accustomed to say,:
"Sourcing is a POLITICAL question."
Citing him as a 'credible' source damages
the credibility of anyone who does so.
(A nonpolitical, and supremely shallow, aside
that I am, nonetheless, powerless to resist:
Madsen is, far-and-away, hands down
shoo-in for the prize 'Most Physically
Repellent Human Specimen in Our,
Or Anybody Else's, Lifetime')
