It is with sadness that Greater Madison Pagan Unity Council is put on indefinite hold for the foreseeable future. All future meetings are cancelled and any paid members of GMPUC will have their membership fees returned to them, if they so desire. Any left-over monies will be given to a local pagan organization at the choosing of the remaining board members of GMPUC. The status of the Yahoo Group and .org website has yet to be decided by the remaining board members. We are disbanding the organization for a few reasons… We had some very valuable board members leave the area, due to life changes, and other board members experience crisis on a personal level that made GMPUC at best a secondary concern. Personally, I found GMPUC to be duplicating the efforts I am already involved in with Tiger’s Eye Temple, and not really able to put my full attention behind both projects. I know other board members felt this way also. We also felt it very difficult to establish any kind of momentum with once a month meetings, and most people too busy for more meetings. And more than anything, a general malaise of the greater pagan community toward efforts in building unity for everyone, regardless of gender identity, experience and path. The principles put forth by the originators of the Pagan Unity Council are sound and should be guidelines for future endeavors, but for whatever reasons, our community seems too fractured to care much at this point. So we must move forward in our own ways to help rebuild and restore the idea of true pagan community in Madison and the surrounding areas. The Yahoo Group will be kept up and running for the time being, until the remaining board members decide what role it should take, or simply deleted. Any and all questions and concerns can be directed to myself.
