This morning I was woke up at seven thirty by a little six year old hand knocking on my bedroom door. It was my six year old daughter holding a homemade Father’s day card. She had made it with red construction paper and crayons. I was barely awake yet she had a grin from ear to ear. I sat down in my chair and opened it. It large blue and green crayon it said “I lov you. you are the best dad evr” I started to tear up. I overlooked the two words that she misspelled, she is after all six years old and had just finished Kindergarten. I just sat there with tears in my eyes and gave her a big hug. While I was hugging her I thought back to her just finishing Kindergarten. My daughter was not able to write this simple sentence last Father’s day. Why was this year different? She had a good Teacher this past year. Many of us take for granted reading and writing. Yet we all had to learn it at some point. Teachers make a big different in our children’s lives. Yet most of us take them for granted. Were would we be as a society today with out Teachers. So dad’s when you think about the construction paper cards your little ones gave you this Father’s day maybe you should send a thank you note to your child’s teacher for helping make it possible. I just did.
