I look back down through the history of Protestantism and discern a pattern.
The Assemblies of God, the United Pentecostal Church, the Church of God and
a host of others were all split offs from the mainliners that split from
Catholicism.
Is there something wrong with this picture? I strongly believe in walking by
the power of faith in God, but do we really need a dozen more of these split
offs? Let's get back to seeking the truth that is in Jesus Christ and leave
behind the doctrines that have been discredited by faithful men of God years
ago.
Using an analytical filter, I have been impressed by one thing that the
Bible shows all Christians need to be very concerned about. We need to learn
total submission to Christ and desire to walk in sanctification.
We've got a long way to go . . .
Respectfully,
KA

Ken where does the above comments leave the 3 main denominations The
Disciples of Christ, The acappella churches of Christ, and the Independent
Christian churches formed from the work of the Campbells and Stone?
Most disturbing is they sought unity we now have disunity of the gravest
sort..... the church of Christ seems to have given up on the concept of
unity. Someone has estimated that there are some 26 varieties of Church of
Christ. The Disciples appear to have given up on the concept of restoration
of NT Christianity........ I sometimes think that the Independent Christian
church has done a better job of keeping the 2 Ideas together than either the
Disciples or the Churches of Christ. Perhaps I should add to my list 2 other
churches that seem to have evolved from this movement recently the
International Church of Christ and Christ's Church Fellowship........
Could it be that in all of these we have to closely followed our own way and
not the way of the Lord?
