Is anyone planning on going? We are looking at getting a hotel room in Ozark (about 25 miles from Booneville)for the event instead of doing the primitive camping thing at that site in the GAWDAWFUL heat? It is $70 a nite at the Ozark Inn which has excellent reviews, for a room with 2 double beds. Anyone want to split a room?

Greetings My Family,
I hope this missive finds You well. I need help from my Clan. We need as many of you as possible to attend Diamond Wars this year. Not only is it the events 25th anniversary, it is OUR 15th! DW has always been a Fayne event. Please, do not let the location of event deter you from showing up. We have many members that travel thousands of miles for this event. Roibeard, our new Taoiseach comes from the Boston area, Lance comes from CANADA! A few extra hours drive really shouldn't matter that much. I need you for the party Saturday night. As the Silver Anniversary party, they want it to be all out. WE are in charge of the bar. Barra Export has raised 180$ to go toward a keg and Rum Runners. The Gleann Abhann Brewing Guild will have beers and wines and meads there. We need more. All donations of liquor are great, or money to allow us to expand our beer and increase the length of time the Rum Runners will last. But mostly, We need a Presence. Duchess Ilissa is trying to use this to make money on, instead of using Shadow Legion and do a massive grill, she will be selling 'party platters' from her Dunkin Duchess. We should provide FREE food. Kevin (Jean Claude de' Callie), myself and a couple others, are putting money together to purchase a pre-cooked Roasting animal. Who else can go in on this? Who can bring other dishes to setup at food table? WE NEED YOU! Show up, Party, Help out. BE THERE! The last war we held there, most members of Fayne chose to 'boycott' the event due to the site. The event turned out to be very comfortable. Not cold, not too hot. Everyone was looking for the Fayne party that Saturday night. We weren't there. They were disappointed, but went 'eh. whatever.' We don't want that. We want to be looked for, and sorely missed. We want our absence to be hole in the event. The 'boycott' backfired and did no good, other than ruin OUR rep for throwing partys where-ever and when-ever we want. We need to have people come to this party and leaving going, "Damn, can't wait to see what they do at Gulf Wars". We want people to come to our camp at Gulf? Show them that THEY want to come. So again, All of you, please come to the event. We need you. The fate of the Clans rep at future Diamond's very well may rest in this one event.

Yeah, here we go.  I need a pretty quick answer on this...

Diamond Wars this year is October 20-23.  That's the next to last weekend in the
month.  Genevote has asked if the household would like to take over the kitchen
as independent contractors and provide food for the event.

As independent contractors, we would provide our own funds for the food --
however, we would also keep any profit we made from the venture.

Genevote has also offered us Shady Grove cabin -- the cabin we've used in the
past at the bottom of the hill with all the beds.  Her one caveat is if we don't
fill all the beds that we allow other staff to stay there.

She needs an answer ASAP -- her bid is going in Sunday.  Would anyone else be
interested in this?

Greetings Everyone,
I am inviting all of Arthur and my friends to a Wedding shower for our son
Clinton and his lady Ami.  It will be at our house (2877 Hwy 294 Jacksonville,
AR) on Tuesday July 26 at 7pm.

This will be a potluck Bar-b-que for the couple.  Please bring a little
something for everyone to taste.  And if you please, a family recipe for the
couples Homemade Cookbook. Also as I am short on chairs and being SCA'ers would
you please bring your own folding chairs :)

The Day and Lesson I Will Never Forget!

As a lifelong educator I have devoted my energy to teaching our
children. This is why I will never forget June 28, 1989 since that was
the day I was about to get a great lesson. It was a hot humid day as I
rushed to get into the supermarket a television crew stopped me and
asked me to partake in a show they were going to run live. Thinking
that this is a once in a lifetime chance I agreed. The producer
gathered about twenty people the same way and briefed us. Basically he
told us to go in and buy anything we wished and not to worry about the
price or the money because they would pay for it. Joe, the producer,
did insist that we fill the carts as much as possible. Needless to
say everyone stuffed their carts with the most expensive things they
could find. The checkout was to be the lesson of all time. The individuals
overflowing carts were costing next to nothing since the producer made
us use the company's program which can be found at
http://discounts4food.com My cart only rang up to $23.36 which
included meats, over the counter meds, toiletries, cosmetics, etc.
This has been the most incredible experience I have ever had. When I got
home I signed up for the sampler package and the rest has been nothing
but huge savings!

Hey, guys.  Here's what we need for Diamond Wars at this point.

1.  Design a card.  I need a punch card with eight boxes to punch.  I'm not
concerned if it's divided between meals or not.  Needs to be business sized. 
The cards will sell for $16 in advance and $18 at the door.

2.  Pay account set-up.  This can be a very simple website attached to some pay
service.  If we go with PayPal, we need to charge an amount extra to cover what
PayPal will charge.

3.  A show of hands of who is coming, who plans to be in the cabin with us and
who wants to work what meals.

I'd appreciate your help, folks.
