This Global Peace Zones Development Campaign Networking Group promotes acquisition of municipal, State, and private Global Peace Zone designations by formal written Proclamations of individuals, groups, and government officials.

Welcomed here are ideas of what can be done locally with the added recognition of a local Global Peace Zone to help further the mandate of the United Nations 2001-2010 International Decade for Creating a Culture of Peace and Nonviolence for the Children of the World.

Precedents for the concept of a Global Peace Zone include the cultural practices of ancient indigenous peoples in America regarding the use by various tribes of sacred areas by common agreement to enjoin a sacred demeanor when being in those places such as the Sacred Black Hills of South Dakota, the Paha Sapa or center of all there is, the Holy Land of the Lakota, Dakota, and Nakota (Sioux) Nations plundered for gold in early America and then plundered for Uranium against the people's wishes after the covert takeover of Lakota administration by the FBI COINTELPRO Reign of Terror in South Dakota in the 1960-70's that resulted in the last US Army v Indian War, at Wounded Knee, South Dakota, and the subsequent firefight at Jumping Bull Ranch that resulted in the deaths of two FBI agents blamed on Leonard Peltier, convicted based on later acknowledged falsified evidence by the FBI trying to save face after Peltier's co-defendants were acquitted on the grounds of self defense. This Nelson Mandela case in America marked Peltier's 30th anniversary of imprisonment upon illegal extradition from Canada on February 6, 1976. Leonard Peltier is in jail because of covert actions to steal the Lakota's Global Peace Zone and turn it into a Uranium mine.

US Global Peace Zone Cities include Taos and Santa Fe, New Mexico; San Francisco California; Rome New York; (about a dozen ending 2005)
