SEPTEMBER 2003 - STILL - RISING FROM THE ASHES..AGAIN?
Yes, folks, GloSoDia is finding yet more reasons for continuing and even diversifyingBR>
In May I said that a major reason for this revival was as a site for discussion on the World Social Forum (No 3 was in Brazil, No 4 will be in India in 2004) in particular and the 'Global Justice and Solidarity Movement' in general.
I have been uploading various papers to the relevant folder. But, given the progress made on the book mentioned there, I and my co-editors thought we might need a specific and separate site for this. I am experimenting, with the aid of Dave Hollis, of LabourNet Deutschland, in setting up such a site. More information if and when this site takes off.
In the meantime, there seems to have been quite a dramatic increase in interest, at least amongst academics, in union internationalism, or labour internationalism more generally, or - most generally - in the new social movement internationalisms most generally. (Thank you, Capitalism!). I have myself been involved in four such international conferences this year, which suggests that there must have been at least four others which I don't even know about. My own contributions to or reflections on such can be found within 'Files', then 'Watermania', and by then looking for contributions dated 2003.
I am, as always, looking for additional 'moderators' - people permitted to upload and edit the files and site. Any volunteers? Let me know.
Best,
Peter Waterman
