Several other people have already responded to
your message, but I thought I'd throw in my spare
change as well. First of all, to consecrate items, you
could just cast a circle, call the elements, and
visualize white purifying light surrounding the objects.
The energy raised during the ritual alone can
consecrate your items.

Second, don't be afraid to
use regular household items until you can afford
commercial items you may want (or maybe you won't want
them!) For years, witches did just that - to avoid
detection. They used everyday items as their
tools.

Use a pot instead of a cauldron, a wine glass instead
of a chalice, everyday candles, table salt, etc...
make your own candles with fragments of left over or
burnt down candles. Simply use a double boiler and use
items such as jars, coffee cans, etc.. instead of
expensive molds.

Good luck, your tools will come
together. . . but the most important part is the energies
you use in your magickal workings.

~glorianna

MM All,
I recently downloaded a screen saver
of England, and one of the shots is of a gigantic
face carved into the side of a tree. It is being
cleaned by a young man and is captioned "Old Man In The
Woods." This looks to me like a Pagan symbol. Does anyone
know what it is and exactly where in England it is? I
am planning a trip there next year and would very
much like to see it!
BB, Starrwicca

Hi!
Starwicca,i believe this symbol has a lot
of names.A face in a tree! It's basically an ancient
God.Some names are The Green Man,Jack O' The
Green,Cernunnos,The Oak King.I'm sure there are many others.He's a
counterpart to The Earth Mother, blending humanity and the
plant world.
Peace and Love
Rain BrightStar

Merry Meet to all the members here.I had the same
questions before when I first started. I still don't have
my tools yet. I did consider making a small branch
into my wand ,a small koa wood bowl as an offering
plate,my candles in a brass plated candle holder and a
cloth from a fabric store. I knew that I could
gradually get all those tools when time and finances allow
it. Hope you find all that you're looking for. I know
I'm still looking. Blessings to you and all.

MM BrightStar,
I figured it was a God symbol.
Only Pagans would do something as cool as carving it
right into the tree! <wink>
You don't happen
to know where in England this beautiful tree is, do
you? I would very much like to see it in person.

I read on a mailing list that a hacker had
entered and deleted a Pagan web site (and quite an
extensive one, at that!). All that was left was a link to
visit a Christian page and be saved...
If you have a

I would like to chat but I am not always
available at the right times. I am fairly new to this

how this is set up and how to make sure that I have

the chats. Thank You

Birght

I don't know about that one specifically,
however, when Shamans need to make a medicine mask or a
mask for rituals they cut into a tree and carve it
right into the tree. They then reomve it after the mask
is complete and thank the tree for providing it. So
maybe someone was doing that and just decided it was
better to leave it with the tree. You may already know
that, but I think it is a fun fact.

Bright

My main objections towards these holidays is that
they are commercially oriented
nowdays.

Honoring your loved ones is an everyday celebration and
should not just be limited on those days alone, as it
has become. But if one chose to honor one's mom this
day, it's fine with me.
And as far as the Great
Mother goes, I honor Her at morning, at dinner, at
night, during the Full and the Dark of the

My Ex had started a custody battle for joint
custody 4 years after our divorce was finalised. This has
been going on for a year now as he thinks he wont have
to pay child support. He recently found out I was
wiccan and I know he plans on using this in court trying
to say I am into Satanism. I know that wicca is
protected by federal goverment as a religion and I even go
to a legally recognised wiccan church within my
state. I am not too worried about this, however I do
want to be prepared so if anyone knows any info please
let me know or post a site ect. Thanks, Whispering
Willow

Hello all and Bright Blessings! As some of you
may already know I am new to magick, and I have a
question. On the subject of choosing a deity, how would a
solitary go about picking one? Just by reading up on them?
Also how important is it that I pick one? I'm not sure
exactly what it all means. It has been mentioned in a
couple of my books. Is it just an association, or a
style of belief and practice?
I'm sure everyone
will have different ideas about this and I am open to
hearing all of them. If you could shed some light on the
subject for me I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank
you
Have a wonderful day!
Jennifer

Merry Meet!
The way I see it, it is more like
you are chosen by a Deity, and not choose one. Sooner
or later, One will be more appealing to you than
others, and you'll just have to learn more.
Two years
ago, I had hardly any idea who Bast is. And now She's
in my thought day and night.
Thing of the stories
you've heard on different Deities. If you can relate to
a particular one more than others, start exploring
this One.

I hope I helped,
Werecat99

I agree w/WereCat on this one, Deities tend to
pick you- I know mine did! The best thing you can do
is to read up on as many as possible so you will
recongize the call when it comes. A possible but not
necessary starting point is with the Pantheon of your
family's heritage (Celtic, in my case).
Good
luck!

-ally.
