What do I tell my children? When should I come out to them? If I am married to their mother, is it necessary to separate? How do I explain my boyfriend to my family? Am I gay, bisexual? Can I become a father and still live with my lover/husband?
This group is a forum to discuss topics of special interest to gay, bisexual, or trans fathers.
NOTE: It is NOT a dating or match-making group.
Messages to this group cover general news, information, personal stories, and trends about being gay AND a father, and occasional notices of Gay Fathers of Toronto group activities. The FILES section stores resources useful to new members. Click MESSAGES to browse past messages.
This Yahoo group is an extension of Gay Fathers of Toronto that has met since 1978. GFT peer support meetings are the 1st and 3rd Thursdays every month and are open to gay, bi, and trans fathers and to all gay men with parenting responsibilities. Topics focus on anything that affects the future of the man or his family - e.g. homophobia, internalized homophobia, guilt, developing positive self-image, coping with reconfigured families, and coming out especially to wives and children.
Our website http://www.gayfathers-toronto.com has more information for gay fathers, their families, GFT meetings, its activities and policies - click "Related Link:" below.
