Gateway Outside is the outdoor adventure ministry at Gateway Church in Austin Texas. Our events are open to all in the Austin area.

Jesus often retreated into the wilderness to get away from the daily business to spend quiet and intimate time with God. The wilderness is an unaltered view of God’s beauty. As Moses described it in Deuteronomy 33:13-15, the Lord considers nature a reward for living in him.

"May the LORD bless his land with the precious dew from heaven above and with the deep waters that lie below; with the best the sun brings forth and the finest the moon can yield; with the choicest gifts of the ancient mountains and the fruitfulness of the everlasting hills." We have been blessed by God with the beauty of nature and God wants us enjoy this blessing by getting into the wilderness. The Outside Ministry is a way to provide that opportunity.

OUR MISSION:
To lead people into the splendor of God's creation where they can retreat from the day to day noise of life through times of Christ-centered fellowship, as well as silence, as they experience the peace and rest of the Creator's masterpiece.

The Outside ministry offers outdoor events that are centered around Jesus. The events range in duration from a few hours to a whole week. The types of events may be a simple hike to a winter ski trip. The ministry also works with the other ministries to offer coordinated events. Examples of outdoor activities that may occur through this ministry are mountain biking, hiking, camping, white water rafting, kayaking/canoeing, snowboarding/skiing, zip line, horseback riding, trail running, back packing, tubing, and scuba diving.
