Re: [GPSL] Impedance

For some reason the Yahoo Groups spam filter held this, and I saw it only just now while doing routine maintenance.  Not sure why it got flagged.

And I must maybe doing something wrong?

what dielectric is "AIR" it is 1 right?  so for the dielectric I should input "1" right?
and 14 Ga wire is 2 mm diameter.

to make it 50 ohms the wire needs to be .4mm above the plane?  geez  the rubber insulation if left on probably would be close to the right spacing?

Subject: [GPSL] Impedance

Iknow there is an formula somewhere but I can not find it.

Like when making a open wire feed line the diameter of the conductors and spacing determines the impedance.

How about a single wire over a flat ground plane?  there must be a formula somewhere for that.

Hi Joe, You've described a microstrip transmission line. A stripline is sandwiched between two parallel ground planes. There's probably something in the ARRL...
