Description

General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS)is a type of FCC licensed 2-way radio in the USA. It operates in the 462/467 MHz range. Any one can be licensed to use this band. No testing required. It's related to CB, but is MUCH different. In this list, we'll talk about uses for this service. How to get started, how to set up a repeater. REACT is a major user of GMRS repeaters. Their input is wanted. Also covered is a new service, FRS (Family Radio Service). Many of the advantages of GMRS, but less power and no license required. Join us to find out more. Please keep conversations on-topic and avoid flames. To help us avoid flame wars, discussion of political action groups is not welcome. Their members are welcome, but discussion of their group's agenda is not.
If you have a GMRS radio for sale, one posting please. Please do not promote ebay auctions here. When responding to a for-sale message, please go direct, not to the whole list. I try to keep all messages on-subject and of interest to all.

Re: How do you have a radio type accepted?
... That is cool. However, I think the "GMRS" FCC ID holder would have to manufacture new ID stickers for the radio, that meet FCC rules for stickerness,

Re: How do you have a radio type accepted?
True, but if you are licensed, you should want to follow the rules. And using a Part 90 only radio for GMRS is not legal. Gary WPQS324 ... From: Michael Wright
