This is a discussion group for the Georgia chapter of a home school group called H.E.A.R.T.S which stands for Homeschoolers Educating, Assisting, Reaching-out Through Service. This list is to bring together our state support group leaders and volunteers to make our community a great place to live and to help our children learn to be helpful in making their community thrive.
H.E.A.R.T.S. was begun by a home schooling activist in NJ name Michele Pulis. Our purpose is to unite homeschoolers in community projects and to boost public awareness, understanding and acceptance of homeschoolers. We will use the monthly schedule OF PROJECTS AND THEMES of the national H.E.A.R.T.S. website which can currently be found at: http://www.H-E-A-R-T-S.org
We would also like to add local themes and such to our group.
“Nationwide, homeschoolers consistently become involved in community outreach as part of their daily learning. The organization called H.E.A.R.T.S. was recently created in an effort to capitalize on this volunteer spirit by coordinating efforts – reaching beyond the barriers of religion, politics, educational philosophy, and distance.” --Updated Press Release - September, 2004
