Volume 8, Issue 2
April - June 2006

June 1, 2006 "It is the secret of the world that all things subsist and do not die, but only retire a little from sight and afterwards return again." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
Springtime Sadness
It is steamy hot and humid here today and the first of my purple irises have just bloomed as if to remind me that every springtime is proof of reincarnation There has been abundant rain and everything is lush, full and green bursting with new life. The birds are filling the air with their joy, splashing in the bird bath my children gave me for Mother's Day, and my annual invasion of bumble bees in my house is underway.

My heart is heavy with sadness right now and it is with great sadness that I announce the passing of a fine, young man. On March 26, 2006 , Matthew Berthelette was involved in a vehicle accident which ended his life. Matthew had the privilege of being part of one of the most beautiful, strongest and kindest families I have ever known and my sympathies and the sympathies of the entire Tarot Canada organization is extended to them at this time of loss. Prayers for your pillows and stars for his crown.

Matthew Berthelette Tribute

I would also like to ask everyone to include Matthew's family in their thoughts and prayers. It would be appreciated by his family.

I have also just learned that another family very near and dear to mine, is going through a terrible situation. Their son, Scott, has just been diagnosed with terminal cancer of the heart and lungs. He has always been a good man and he has a lovely wife, Elaine, and new daughter, Emily. Thoughts and prayers would be appreciated, a miracle will be needed.

Please take a minute to light a candle for these two wonderful young men and their families. Burn one down for them.

Closing Prayer from the Navajo Night Blessing Ceremony

O you, who dwell in the house made of the dawn,
In the house made of the evening twilight
Where the dark mist curtains the doorway,
The path to which is on the rainbow
I have made your sacrifice.
I have prepared a smoke for you.

My feet restore for me.
My limbs restore for me.
My body restore for me.
My mind restore for me.
My voice restore for me.

Today, take away your spell from me.
Away from me you have taken it.
Far off from me you have taken it.

Happily, I recover.
Happily, my interior becomes cool.
Happily, my eyes regain their power.
Happily, my head becomes cool.
Happily, my limbs regain their power.
Happily, I hear again.
Happily for me, the spell is taken off.

Happily, I walk.
Impervious to pain, I walk.
Feeling light within, I walk.
In beauty, I walk.
With beauty before me, I walk.
With beauty behind me, I walk.
With beauty below me, I walk.
With beauty all around me, I walk.

It is finished in beauty.
It is finished in beauty.
It is finished in beauty.

Summer Bash July 29, 2006
The annual bash is set for Saturday, July 29, 2006 and things are shaping up nicely for this year's party. We have 6 bands ready to play at the time of this newsletter and hopefully a couple of acoustic acts, including Dave Belanger, will also be joining us. The party starts in the afternoon and goes 'til the sun comes up the next day. I am currently working on vendors and so far have a tattoo artist, kids crafts and face painting, possibly Chair Massage and Mary Kay facials and we have plans to rent a Dunk the Diver tank for the day. We are also working on getting the Minnow Racing Track back on track for the day (great fun for kids of all ages). Tony is going to do the food again and Carleton Pumping Services will be doing the Port-A-Potties. Hope to see you there.

If you need a band for a summer event please check out some of these awesome people and give them a consideration.

No Buds For Bob - here July 29

EZ3 - here July 29

Uncle Seth

The Music Never Stops

Real Gone Daddies

Butterflies Zebras - New Site! Should be here on the 29th too

We are hopeful that Mandrake Root and Patrick Ang can make a return appearance and a brand new band called Cross the Road will be making their debut. We also have a Blues Band lined up but I don't have their name yet.
