Pattern Tester Spotlight
Janet Seiber
Janet Seiber was one of our first pattern testers to sign up earlier this summer. After completing her first couple of kits in record time, Janet volunteered to test our patterns using her own fabric. She sent me a photo of her fabric stash, and I can see why she volunteered to use her own fabric!
Janet's fabric stash
Janet received a "5-star pattern tester" t-shirt when she completed her first 6 patterns. She was the first tester to receive a t-shirt, and I have since made this offer available to all testers in lieu of the normal 1 FQ per pattern.
Janet's tshirt
She even put a new twist on some of our patterns, such as changing the paper pieced clamshell to look like a Jamaican lady. All of the photos below are patterns tested by Janet.
These people were on the ball and noticed their name in our newsletter, emailed a photo of a finished block, or spotted a winning code while browsing the free patterns on our site. Congratulations!

6.) About Us
FourTwinSisters.com is a site that features free quilt patterns. Yes, we really are four twin sisters!
Margaret and Annette are the oldest twins and the creator of all the patterns on FourTwinSisters.com.We do all our patterns using the fine vector art capabilities of MS Word!We
both love quilting, but since we both work full time and have toddlers,
it's easier for us to indulge in our love of quilting by making
patterns for others to enjoy.Our
younger sisters, Penny and Marilyn, love quilting too but since they
are in full-time medical studies they only contribute their pretty
faces to our logo, and words of encouragement.We also have a younger brother, David, who, as far as I know, has never made a quilt. (Are there too many commas in that sentence? I never know when to stop.)

- Joannine H. Des Moines, IA - Patricia M. Atoka, TN - Nancy S. San Diego, CA - Gayle M. Murchison, TX
Gayle wrote this lovely message:
Hello Annette, I absolutely love your site. It is really exciting to find a site with such detailed free patterns that anyone can make. You are dedicated to an art that was almost extinct a few years ago.
I made my first quilt almost 14 years ago for my granddaughter. She saw a quilt in a magazine and wanted one. It is a nine patch and I made it with plaid flannel. I had no idea it was hard to make and that I didn't know what I was doing, so it turned out great. Of course it has a few puckers from my machine quilting. (I didn't know what a walking foot was) It is still her 'special' quilt and has been patched so many times it isn't necessarily the same quilt. We call it adding character. I've improved a little with time and still have the quilting bug. I like the art quilts better than heirloom. They have more personality.

4.) About Us FourTwinSisters.com is a site that features free quilt patterns. Yes, we really are four twin sisters!
Table of Contents 1.) Greetings 2.) Barter Received 3.) User Shots 4.) Patterns - New Patterns - Popular Patterns - Unpopular Patterns 5.) Newsletter Contest 6.) Winners! 7.) About Us
1.) Greetings It's warm here in California. Our daffodils are starting to pop up, the Calla Lilies and Bird of Paradise are blooming. I purchased honeyberries from my favorite "edible plants" garden site, Burnt Ridge Nursery (http://www.burntridgenursery.com) Honeyberries! I have never heard of them, but those of you on the prairies probably know about them as they come from cold climes. I had to get the special "late blooming" variety for warmer climates.
What does all this have to do with quilting? Nothing! Except that quilting and gardening go hand in hand. If you need an unusual plant pattern, enter it on our "pattern requests" page and we might get to it some day! This is where most of our ideas for new patterns come from. http://www.fourtwinsisters.com/quiltpatterns/requests.php
Happy Quilting and (if you are in California) Happy Gardening! Hot mugs of cocoa to the rest of you! Except you Australia people. You are probably prancing in pastures of petunias this time of year. (And maybe you South African visitors also!)
2.) Barter Received I always get giddy with delight when we get a small token of appreciation from you folks who appreciate our patterns. This week I got two delightful shipments of used postage stamps and fat quarters. Thank you so much! You made my day!
Julie T - Stafford, VA Julie sent in three *lovely* fat quarters and a huge lot of used postage stamps! Julie is a retired first grade teacher and her class collected the stamps for a bookmark project. Thank you Julie, I adore them! 01/11/2006
Carol H - Longwood, FL Carol sent me dozens of old postage stamps that she found at a garage sale for $1.00. THANK you Carol, the stamps are absolutely wonderful! From all over the world. 01/06/2006
We gladly accept any barter items in exchange for our free patterns. Used postage stamps are our favorite as they are free for you, and so delightful to collect. Just rip them off your stack of Christmas card envelopes! We especially enjoy international stamps, and anything that is not the "plain USA flag". Mail barter items to Four Twin Sisters, PO Box 111104, Campbell CA, 95011-1104
Want a fat quarter? Email annettetruong@... a photo of one of our patterns, fused or sewn. We send a quality Fat Quarter to each person who emails us a photo of a finished pattern. Our current fabric is coming from the Krazy Kat Line of Mary Lou Weidman fabric (http://www.marylouquiltdesigns.com)

(I'm also the Queen of Laziness and Procrastination but we won't get into that.) One note for the Rocking horse pattern: Use a PIGMA pen for the eye, bridle, and stirrup strap. Buttons and ribbon? What was I thinking! Way too large for this pattern unless you blow it up 200%. Sometimes I'm a space case. ("You can say that again." crazyquilter7 whispers to weehouse2003 ) Hey! Keep it down back there!

started out with "Brittany Spaniel" in honor of our dog, Brandy. Brandy has since passed on, but we have many fond memories of her. She was Penny & Marilyn's first dog. (Only dog?) I see Brandy everytime I see that Brittany Spaniel pattern, so I know how sentimental pet patterns can be.

Here's the mystery pattern for your printing pleasure:
Last week's newsletter winner:Jim from lace>Nova Scotialace>. Actually, Jim isn't a quilter (for those of you who just swooned over the male name on a QUILTING newsletter) – he's a stained glass artist who enjoys using quilt patterns to make stained glass! Regardless, a fat quarter is on the way to Jim because I don't stock stained glass supplies. (Sorry Jim.) I'm sure it will make a lovely handkerchief. Or doily. Bread basket liner? Computer dust cover? Or maybe it will be Jim's vehicle to romance, as he waltzes into the next quilt group meeting looking for someone who would appreciate a fat quarter more than him. Their eyes lock across the crowded room… The possibilities of a man with a fat quarter are endless. (I'm sure you agree.)
> >
~~~ Back from Time Warp ~~~ (Who let me ramble on so long?)>>
> >
Jim's favorite pattern was "…By Far, `Michelangelo's Creation of Adam' ". Ooohhh I can totally imagine that as a lovely stained glass box lid. It would also look great with marbelized fabric or hand dyes. Batik? Tone-on-tone? The possibilities are endless! (You can send me a photo to prove it!) Here is the url if you haven't gotten it yet:
I remember when I used to look good in things like that. Now I feel most comfortable in "wetsuit". (Hey…that's a good pattern idea…)Have you sewn any of our patterns? Email annette@... a photo, and we'll mail you a fat quarter! (Wow, 1 out of 1 are good odds.)>>
