The purpose of this list is to serve as a gathering point for Letterpress or Typography enthusiasts, hobbyists, students, or professionals in the State of Florida.

Typography is the oldest of the Printing Arts which embodies many facets, from typeset printing via an Albion handpress to proofing wood engravings on a Vandercook to cutting and printing Linocuts on a Golding Pearl or Linecasting on a Ludlow. The art of Letterpress touches other equally fascinating arts such as bookbinding, wood engraving, and as well occupying a unique position of finding a home both in the most traditional of practices and yet again in the most modern of digital design environments. In this New Millenia, Gutenberg indeed meets the Digital Age.

Currently, Letterpress printing is experiencing a renaissance. People have discovered the multi-dynamic experience of fine printing, the slight deboss of paper, the tactile dimension of the impressed word, the saturated colours, the human aspect of this very ancient Art. Surfing about the web turns up hundreds of new Letterpress Shops and Studios, many of which are less than a few months old. Universities are adding Book Art cirriculii to their programmes. And yet there are few teachers. Many of those who know the art best are in advanced retirement. Some are enjoying the tardy appreciation of their former occupation in the form of consulting and mentoring novices whom are "taking the Torch".

Over the past year, several people interested in Letterpress design, production and equipment procurement have contacted me via my blog site. It is my thought that connecting one to another may be of mutual benefit, and may provide for unique fellowship as well.
