This group is for anyone who has an interest in exploring Florida's Riverine Ecosystems. The primary objective is to unite individuals for one-way excursions (usually requires 2 vehicles/drivers); however, the information maintained and exchanged here may be useful to anyone with an interest in wetland ecology, canoeing, kayaking, using databases or Geographic Information Systems (GIS). You do not need experience or even own a paddle to join!

At the center of this group is the Gazetteer of Florida Streams, published in 1966 by the Florida Board of Conservation. It contains data on 1711 natural streams and 46 major canals, which has been entered into an electronic database that can be downloaded from this site. Also posted are links to informative websites and other sources of data, as well as instructions on creating a free GIS. Please feel free to join this group and invite anyone else you believe may be interested. All you need is a Yahoo ID, which is also free.
