OK...what needs to be photocopied? I will be a bit
late to the meeting tomorrow as our church has the
meal at Salvation Army. I should be there by a bit
after 5. Bring whatever needs to be copied and I will
take care of it on Monday.

Cool idea I say!
To Lucianna: before I forget, Aimee suggeested that your research itself,
written into a little paper, would be worthy of submission for the Queen's
Prize. Sounds like you're putting a lot of effort into the research,
something to think about,
To everyone: keeping a "running file" on the computer with pieces of info
and sources as you casually research topics makes later intense research
or documentation easy. As I web surf, I copy & paste interesting stuff
into a new word document and then save it under the topic. I have several
of these going at once.

What does anyone think of putting up evergreen roping from Handled
with care to the light post in front? Kind of a "stepping into the
past" thing?
Another idea I had was to make up some signs with midevil christmas
tradions written out (I am going to try writing them up with
calligraphy)
I will make up a collage with some pictures from past events and
maybe even a photo album to show other pictures.
Any other ideas or expansions on these?

The new MSN 8: smart spam protection and 2 months FREE*
I talked to Downtown Partners and was told we should be fine for the wood barrel, we may just for safety sake have a grate over the top as the permit only said no pyrotechnics or exposes flames. Should have a fire extinguisher nearby as well. They will have Luminaries set along the street as well so we could have additional ones on those or shelters candles for more lighting if we wanted too. Any questions feel free to call me at the shop, 754-1121.
*The brave Bjorn emerges from the darkness of Shadowdale, his cloak
torn and his shirt hanging off of him like torn rags. A stream of
blood trails down his face from the blood soaked head band that he
wears. The looks of him come from months of trials and combats of a
hostile environment. He kneels down and washes his face in the waters
of the Mississippi and then stands up to look at his missed friends
of his homeland. He opens his mouth to speak* "I'm BACK"
Things went sour up there, so I decided to come back home. I'm sorry
I missed the meeting. I've only gotten my computer back on the net a
night or two ago, and I haven't done much other than unpack my
things. So I'll be attending meetings regularly again. I noticed the
Living Window feature that was mentioned at the meeting and I am
interested and might attend given someone fills me in on what I need
to do. Anything, you need, and I'll give it my best to do what I can.
I'm jobless for a little bit, so my financial situation is a little
flustered at the moment, but I'll get it sorted out soon enough.
So, if you'll take me back. I'll be glad to be back. :D So give me a
yell.

Yours in Service
Lord Hannibal the Oblivious
Seneschal, Proto-Incipeint Shire-March of Kingdom's Crossing
Hi there,
This is to remind everyone that we'll be having our monthly SCA meeting
tomorrow, Wednesday 6 November, at 7:00 PM, in the Grimes-Salter Room
of the Burlington Public Library.
Hope to see you there!
Lord Hannibal the Oblivious
I hope all is well this Hollow's Eve (or not well depending on your point of view...). Just a reminder of what is coming up soon, the monthly meeting will be Wendsday November 6th, 7pm at the Burlington Library.
This weekend is an event in Hannible, MO (about 2 hour south) 'Caravan to the End of the Earth' see websight:
Subject: [ShadowdaleSCA] Shadowdale site directions--Fighter practice schedule
For 13 October, 1 PM, S. T. Morrison Park , Coralville
Take your best route to Iowa City. From all directions but south, you want to end up on I-80 and take the First Avenue (Coralville) exit, # 242. Go South from the interstate (into Coralville), through several stoplights, and turn right onto 5th St.(at a stoplight with a dedicated right turn lane). Take 5th St. through the stop sign at 10th Ave and the stoplight at 12th Ave. Once you've passed the police/fire station, take the next right onto 7th St and you'll be skirting the south side of the park. The parking lot entrance is the second drive on the left (the first drive is exit only), and fighting will be conducted north of the parking lot.
If you are coming from the south, find your best route to the strip in Coralville. From the strip, turn onto 12th Ave (only goes north). Turn left on 5th St. Turn right on 7th St. The park is on your left.
Take 61 South to New London MO, make a right onto 19.
19 will join 54, north of Ladonia. Stay on 19/54 to where 54 makes a right to Mexico.
On the east edge of Mexico make a left on the bypass (54) and go south.
Continue on through Kingdom City (pass under 70) and on to Jefferson City on 54.
*This next part you have to pay close attention to*
Just before Jeff City, 63 will merge with 54. Your goal is to stay on 63 to Rolla, which means merging (or exiting?) onto 50/63 east/south in Jeff City. Watch the signs!!!
This isn't hard unless you don't pay attention.
Continue on 50/63 south to Lisletown, where 63 makes a right to Rolla.
Follow 63 into and through Rolla, site is on the left just a mile out of town.
(Note to Heather: you will see the 1/2 size Stone Henge along the bend as you drive by the college in Rolla.)

Anyone else who might be interested in attending this symposium? I'm
going to try to shake loose and make the trip. There looks to be
some good classes for beginners.
Rick
*The need to find a new meeting place was apparent due to the diminished light and the feasting mosquito's at the Port. People were asked to look into new places and report back. Therefore the Oct. 2 meeting is canceled until further notice, if someone knows of a place please contact us.
*Arts and Sciences meeting- Sept. 25th at Heathers house around 7pm. If you don't have another project to work on, bring a dollar to make a draw string pouch. Also bring something to snack on.
*Fighter Practice- Sept 6. Dirk's house, strap up swords and fix loaner armor. Other meetings will be scheduled later.
*Karla offered crash space for the Cedar Rapids event. If interested call (319)337-2461
------------------------------
Other info though not discussed at the meeting:
*There will be a re-enactors weekend at the Fort, in Ft. Madison, on Sept 28-29th. Dirk and I are going to try and go on Sunday the 29th. If you are interested and want more info contact Brenda.
