Thanks for sharing that great news!  Good on Bolton and Justicia! The Oromo Coffee Company are very, very grateful for the Justicia order and also asked me to:

1) Say a big THANK YOU to the Fairtrade Foundation for asking us to speak about Oromo CC at the Schools and Youth Conference last week!  Abiyot and Teshome were overwhelmed by the attention and interest and the wonderful feedback that they got on the taste of the coffee

2) Remind Fairtraders who want to promote the (Fairtrade Cert'd!) OCC coffee that their marketing leaflets can be sent to them if an SAE (large envelope stamped) is sent to the OCC with a covering note.
AND... to tell any would-be stockists that the OCC will be putting shop names on their website, so there is some nice advertising opportunities included with an order!

3) Tell people that their bookings for coffee tastings, headlining Food and Drink festivals etc. are really taking off - and they are just so grateful to the Fairtraders out there for this. You really have made such a difference to the Oromo community's sense of hope and their self-esteem.

Thanks!

Christina

Bolton's Fair World Shop JUSTICIA also has the lovely coffee for sale -  Oromo came to our Faitrade Market in March and we so enjoyed their samples that stocking it was the next step.

Long may Oromo thrive!

Dear All

Many of you will have seen the publicity about 'the Oromo Coffee Company' (OCC) which the Lorna Young Foundation has helped to get started.

I just wanted to let you know that our campaigning friends in Keswick were the champions in securing the first shop order for the OCC!  'Fond Ewe' in Keswick now has shelves of this ultra-top quality coffee (with Glossop, Derbyshire's 'Praze Fine Foods' following in 2nd place)

Keswick Fairtrade Town can tell you just how stunning the coffee is and how by purchasing it (and persuading your local shops to order it) you are not only helping the Oromos in Ethiopia, but the refugees here too, who are now running this social enterprise.

But apart from that -  the Keswick crew also hosted the OCC coffee tasting at the opening of a fantastic new exhibition - photographs by Richard Human being shown at 'the Theatre on the Lake'.  They focus on the community of Choche in Ethiopia (who have a friendship link with Keswick...those of you who have seen 'Black Gold' will remember a certain Tadesse Meskela who is one of Choche's more famous residents).

We had a fantastic day and were so grateful for the support and interest of both the Keswick and Garstang contingents.  It means a lot to the OCC (who claimed that the Lakes was nearly as beautiful as Ethiopia...)

Links below if you are interested in ordering the coffee - or viewing the photos!

Cheerio, Christina

Following last year’s successful photographic exhibition by Richard Human, there will be another, focussing on the people of Choche, the village in Ethiopia with which we have a friendship link.  These were taken on our visit to Choche in November 2008.
