The Funschooling Young Individuals (FYI) is an inclusive group created for those of us in the OKC metro (and surrounding) areas that are focused on putting the fun back into learning through an unschooling lifestyle (definition found in "related link" below).
We are families that embrace diversity without judgment and are respectful of paths that may be different from our own. It is important to us that our children know that they are loved and respected no matter what their choices, because they are individuals just like everyone else. This is not a group based in any religious or political view, rather an inclusive group for all who are comfortable with diversity in all forms.
This group acts as a support for all those new and veteran to unschooling. We facilitate 3-4 regular activities each month (some weather permitting) and invite members to plan and host activities their family is interested in…chances are, if your family is interested, someone else is too. Check our calendar for these Regularly Scheduled Monthly Activities (current as of 3/11/09): Craft Day, Park Day, Kitchen Creations, Play Day, Field Trip Day.
It is our hope that all members feel comfortable enough here to talk about most anything (knowing it will not be shared beyond this group), plan and host activities as compelled, and share wisdom as it is revealed.
Please Note Requirements: Introduction questions are required prior to membership approval (remember to check spam/junk/bulk mailbox). Participation online and off is also required.
We welcome you to join us in this life-long adventure of Fun with our Young Individuals!

children is our ability to make them feel loved,
respected, wanted and welcome"
