I don't think there is a delete function for memories. The best bet is overwrite it. However if you have FT817commander, the predecessor to HRD, it does memory

Page 47 of the manual addresses deleting memories. If you do not have your copy handy, download a copy off the Yaseu website. Regards, Jerry W5TDY

I really don't see the need for the cranker knob myself. When I want to tune the FT-817 fast, I just lay my index finger on top of the VFO knob and slide it
