I am with you Andrew on this one. The FT817 and IC703 are my main rigs, and even when I use digital stuff my 857 and 897 seldom see any more than 20 watts..

I would pick the 857 as you can always turn the power down and a gel cell will power it for hours... Please define right in front of powerlines Cheers Doc
