The next DFW FSP meeting will be at Holland's restaurant, The Bali Moon, on
Saturday June 5th from 3-7 pm. Directions on their website:
http://balimoon.com/ .

Agenda:
- Elect new group leader (this will be my last meeting)
- Discuss Texas State Fair booth
- Discuss Randall's walk to New Hampshire from Kentucky
- Ways to help Michael Badnarik's campaign
- If we're going to do this first mover from DFW media blitz, we'd need
someone other than me to do the press releases. I think it'd be strange
coming from me. I'll be packing up the truck on Friday June 18th (it can be
in the evening) and leaving first thing on the 19th.

Fellow liberty-lovers,

I'm a reporter with the Gainesville Daily Register in Gainesville,
Texas -- a little south of the new casino in Oklahoma and 30
miles north of Denton, between Sherman and whatever else is
west of here!

I thought a feature story on anyone serious about migrating to
New Hampshire would be very interesting.

So my question is, does anyone from Cooke County (or pretty
near to it) intend on joining the migration?

Please let me know. You can e-mail me at creton4 [at]
yahoo.com or call my desk at (940)665.5511 ext. 20.

Thanks for your time, and nice to be on the group listserv, here.

I've been told that the state LP convention is going on the weekend I was
thinking of doing this, so the get together will have to be put off until
sometime after the porcupine festival.

The DFW group has a new leader, Mark Coleman! Also, Skip Abadie has agreed
to be the local greeter for Texas. Thanks guys!

We discussed possible publicity stunts:

Mark suggested some kind of Lose Pounds for Freedom thing where us
erm..larger porcupines lose weight together for publicity.

Someone who shall remain anonymous suggested tattooing the FSP logo on our
posteriors, and/or other more visible body areas.

In discussing various people who have defended themselves from agression,
only to get entagled with the law, Trey suggested a Second Amendment award,
publicly given, in front of newspapers and such, to individuals who refuse to
become victims. The example he used was the Pizza Butt deliveryman who
started carrying because of the dangers of the job, and shot a would-be
robber in self defense, only to be fired from his job because of it.

Friday June 18th I'll be packing up to move to New Hampshire. Richard has
kindly agreed to submit the press releases for 'the first DFW mover' story.
I'll be hosting a moving party/barbecue starting at 6 pm (though people are
welcome to show up all day if they wish to help me move), and hopefully we'll
have some reporters there. Mark is going to start his filming of the FSP
documentary with this move. Bring your guns, it'll make some nice footage!
I'll send out directions next week.

It's been a pleasure working with you all, and I'm looking forward to seeing
you all in New Hampshire!!

My newspaper editor gave me a report (via fax) that showed a 255-percent
increase in the sales of ammunition (from February) from American Ammunition
Inc.

Is this a company that's well known or anything? He (editor) said the
militias are starting to regroup and "stockpile," which I kind of jokingly
said, "You mean take an inventory?"

Anyway, it'd be a good story I think, especially since Ellis County (south
of Dallas) is what some has referred to as "milita-friendly." (I think,
personally, that it's because of the newspaper; we're ultra-conservative and
libertarian)

If anyone would like to comment, as far as representing an actual "militia"
or gun store or something like that, please do.

The article won't be to "slam" anyone at all. Check me out if you're not
sure:

Badnarik to Address Rally at G8 Conference at Savannah GA

URGENT ANNOUNCEMENT
(please pass to other lists today so we can get the word
out fast)

As most of you are already aware, from June 8-10, the Group of 8 (G8)
Summit will bring together leaders of the world's richest nations.
Behind closed doors, eight men will decide political, economic and
social issues affecting more than 6 billion people. As they gather on
opulent Sea Island, Georgia, the contrast to the harsh realities of
environmental injustice and high unemployment in nearby Brunswick
could
not be more stark. Meanwhile, civil liberties in South Georgia are
being undermined by the Georgia Governor's "state of emergency" in
eight Georgia counties and excessive police and military build up in
the area.

Various Libertarian affiliates, candidates and individuals will be
present at two activities, taking place in Savannah, GA, on Tuesday,
June 8. The first will be the multi-organizational The Parade for
Peace and Civil Liberties held at Forsyth Park. The second event will
be the primary Libertarian Rally, held right after the march.

The Libertarian Rally will be held at Morrell Park at approximately
12:30 (when people return from the march). The keynote speaker will
be
Libertarian presidential candidate Michael Badnarik.
The rest of the speaker lineup includes North Carolina Gubernatorial
candidate Barbara Howe, South Carolina US Senate Candidate Reb
Sutherland, and Alabama LP Vice Chair Stephen Gordon. Others are
anticipated to be listed upon their confirmation.

While we don't expect any violence, there is a history of unruly
behavior at G8 conferences - therefore it may not be advisable to
bring
children.

There will be a lot of members of the press at this event. Whether
you
can make the rally and march or not, your assistance is greatly
appreciated to make this event a success.

If you can make it to the rally/march, you can help by:

1) Helping us distribute announcements/flyers for the Libertarian
Rally
at the Parade for Peach and Civil Liberties.
2) Bringing as many Michael Badnarik signs, buttons, flyers, or other
literature as you can find.
3) Bringing as many LP banners, signs, button, or other material you
have available.
4) Making your own signs - especially those using the word Libertarian
or Badnarik (or both) on them.
5) Help spread the word using the mechanisms below.
7) If you are a candidate or party official and wish to speak at the
event, please contact Cheryl Bates. Her contact information is listed
below.

If you can't make it to the rally, we still need a few minutes of your
time.

7) Spread this message on your e-mail lists, internet posting
locations, and most especially on all of your Yahoo groups.
8) Pass this information on to your national press release lists - and
your local ones if you live in the southeast.
9) Research and have this information posted on as many anti-G8
protest
sites as possible.
10) Send a personal message to Libertarians in GA, SC, NC, AL, and FL
that you know, as they are the ones most likely to be able to make
this
event.

Then everyone can help out by sending Michael Badnarik some financial
assistance by simply clicking http://www.badnarik.org/collect.html
today.

The eyes of the world will be on us on June 8. Your assistance is
necessary to give them something at which to look.

It would appear they sell .223 and got a rather large contract with columbia. Also I read that there is a supply issue for Iraq as we are using a lot of rounds there. Increased armed governement security forces all need ammo. ALthough citizens are arming themselves more since 9/11, I think in this companies case, thier growth is due to government contracts.

Well I worked it out to have aprrox 3 weeks off from work for my
NH /New England adventure.

So I will be following Kat up to the freestate on the 19th. I still
have room for a passenger or two, but realize that I might actually
be gone for a full 3 weeks, and plan on swinging by NYC and touring
NH and the New England area. If anyone is interested in joining us
let me know.

Hey Kat. The rain was welcome, but we lost power for a couple of
hours in my area. Power lines downed by localized high winds. It
just rained again tonight, but it was a gentle downpour.

What I could do with less of is the heat. After experiencing the
wonderful weather in the White Mountains at the Porc Fest, I have
even less tolerance for this stifling Texas heat.

How are your temperatures up there?

Porcupines:

a picture is worth a thousand words.... the real thing ...such as a Free Town in motion, is worth a thousand pictures.

In NH.... RIGHT NOW, there is a movement to help jump-start the fsp.

There is Grafton, NH... which would be considered in this context of "children taunting other children" for some attention, and there is another group, seemingly in the formation stages, which is being motivated as a result of similar reactions to the Grafton group as SpearLib suggests.  They could use your help.  The folks "leading" the Grafton migration are certainly what one would consider "extreme" libertarians... and very overt in their extremities.   The others are in all likelihood equally adherant to the NAP/ZAP but choose to soft-peddle it all, so as not to stir up any silt in the water.

As the fsp seems to be a bit stagnant of late, this has given many some hope as to the progress picking up again.

Enjoy.  There is something there for those who love steak...... and may have it any way they choose.

Margomaps made some very excellent points. Hamburger is hamburger but there are at least a 1,000 ways of cooking ands serving it. Some people love it in chili but hate it in spaghetti sauce. Why? There is no logical reason nor need there be. Just remember all of use have preferences. Some like a steak with the blood running out on the plate and others want it reduced to charcoal.

Sometimes I am reminded of children taunting other children when I see Libertarians attempting to get attention but taking outlandish positions. They get attention all right but not what I consider productive. We are all guilty of reacting in ways that turn people off. Especially people who have never even thought about personal liberty verse the all might state.

Thanks for the reminder that we need to develop our methods of presenting our wonderful story so that a complete strange will at least listen.

it appears there is nothing left in Texas for this man.  LOL

NH is much nicer this time of year, that I can promise.   ...but "buyer beware"... this past winter was BRUTAL....  and I was staying in the warmest part of the state.

anyone did not make it because it was too far out of the way.

Lets Plan to meet 8/14 (this saturday) from 3-6pm.

I will try and have the location settled by Thursday morning.

Has anyone heard about what happened with Bali Moon?

Since you have no real positive interest in the Free State Project, Chuck, why are you asking?

We all know your track record of stirring things up, crapping on everyone else's efforts, making a nuisance of yourself.  You did it with the FSP in the moving_to_nh Yahoo group.  You then took your vitriol, your venom, to the Wyoming folks and pissed off Ken Royce so much he banned you (Free Wyoming Project).   Your various land speculation deals haven't amounted to much, have they?

Everywhere you go, you bring disaster.   The difference is, now we're on to you, Chuck Geschwilder.  We've all seen what you, Jay, Bruce Hartgers, and others like you do.

In fact, there is speculation that you're a government agent, a plant, deliberately trying to destroy every Free State project out there (New Hampshire, Wyoming, whatever).  I have no evidence myself that this is the case.  None.  But by your actions, you might as WELL be a government plant.

You have very little positive to contribute, and LOTS of negativity and nasty comments.  Every place you go, on the Internet, that is what you do.   Its pathetic, its sad, and we who are really fighting for liberty in our lifetime - whether in Wyoming, New Hampshire, or in Texas - aren't going to stand by and watch you pull your old tricks time and again.

Take heed, everyone.

I have a very positive interest in the migration...  it's NOT all about the Free State Project.  Sorry to burst your bubble.
