FSIraq is a forum for the entire Foreign Service community, (FSOs, Specialists, DS and family members,) to discuss issues, share experiences and exchange information about service in Iraq.
Foreign Service personnel often don't have time to think about creating mechanisms for interacting with their colleagues. Often, when we head to post, our information is gleaned from the OBC, or perhaps more often, from a friend of a friend of colleague who has been there before. Conversely, when we leave post, we often find ourselves suddenly cut off from work that filled our every waking hour, and injected back into a world where are past efforts are seldom understood and sometimes unappreciated. The FSIraq group aims to change this paradigm.
The goal of FSIraq is to bring outgoing and incoming Iraq personnel together for information exchange, networking and (hopefully!) some helpful anecdotes about Iraq service. Through interaction between these two groups, we can bridge the gap between expectation and experience by providing outgoing personnel the information they need for a successful tour in Iraq.
Please respect the privacy of those posting and do not forward any posts outside of this group. Conversely, please be aware that this is a public forum, with all of the potential implications.
