I agree. I only made it to part of the 11 service, but what I heard was
more inspiring than anything I've heard there for a long, long time.

I go to church to feel inspired and have felt let down for a while. I
don't know Bill's circumstances - any chance he could ever be in the
running for senior minister?

Chances are, no, but I think this is something we have to pay attention
to when searching for a new minister. We need to find someone who can
truly feed our souls. If he/she does that I think everything else will
fall into place: people will come so money will flow more easily, we'll
be inspired to help grow the church.

I listened to people as we filed out of the sanctuary yesterday and was
a little discouraged to hear people STILL waxing nostalgic about Jim. We
HAVE to move on, folks! I've often thought Jim has moved on and we
haven't. I love Jim, there will never be another like him, but some
folks are still clinging to what was instead of what can be. Until we
let go we can't move forward and embrace a new future. Gosh, I sound
like I'm talking about a breakup of a relationship, but I guess it's
sort of similar - you can't love someone new until you let go of the
past!

I hope that hearing Bill yesterday will encourage people to reach for
the possiblity of the wonderful future we can have at First Parish, we
just have to let go of the past in order to do it.
