Families with Children from China - New England (FCC-NE) invites its families to join with educators in an online dialogue about increasing opportunities to prepare children in school for the global interactions their generation will experience.
As families with children adopted from China, we are privileged to be able to speak about global education issues through the perspective of our own children's school experience and what we might wish their learning opportunities could be. As their parents, we will likely bring to this discussion a strong interest in finding ways for them to be able to study about China and learn Chinese as part of their school curricula. This forum will provide an opportunity to look for ways to make that happen. But it will also provide a broader exposure to ways in which the study of China and its languages finds a home in a vigorous movement--known as Global or International Education--now underway in schools to offer students more exposure to subject matter that will prepare them well for their generation's exciting global challenges.
Goals for this group include:
Share what is happening in our schools. Learn what is happening in
others.
Bring valuable resources and information to the attention of others.
Share suggestions about next steps and ideas tried by others.
Seek help by asking questions. Find answers and direction from
parents and educators.
