Description

F-Costume – your place for research and discussion of Fantasy and Science Fiction Costuming. Let your imaginations run wild! Whether you are interested in creating original costumes, expanding ideas from books or recreating a movie costume, we are here to share knowledge... and create some wonderful new costume outfits in the process.

We are here to discuss all manner of costume techniques. These are not limited to: from fabric to hard-shell costuming; from garment construction to accessory making; from hat and wig building to shoe modification; from sewing techniques to mold making; from gossamer silks to chain maille; from costume exhibits to costume contests; from conventions to publications; from fabric dyeing to grommet pounding. Your imagination is the only limit.

Please note, this group is about researching costumes and costume construction. This is not a buy/sell list. (Note: Vendor signatures are allowed, but please kept them short - not a comercial.)

This group originally started over a decade ago as the mailing list F-Costume, the first fantasy costume list in cyberspace. We are expanding with technology and made it into a group.

Additionally, we will strive to save many of the tips and article posted here. We already have a good start at Making 'Em at Alley Cat Scratch Costume. Articles and tips from this list will be added there. (Note: authors retain copyright to all their own posts, but we share them in an easy to access format.)

If you have an event to announce like a convention, faire or other get together, please list in Costume Gather to reach all the Alley Cat Scratch Costume groups at one time.

Re: Dying lycra?
I don't know if this would work for spandex/lycra, but I did manage to dye tricot and polyester this way. I pinned the garment to a large piece of cardboard
