If anyone has any interest I would be available this Sat or after
dance practice on the 3rd. Gwen, will there be dance practice on the
3rd? We could chip in for pizza or light up the grill. I will be
gone from the 5th until around the 17th for my wedding and such.

I'm sorry, Gwen, I thought I posted! I have a family wedding reception to
go to, up in Dexter, and I can't make it. I would like to try for another
time though.

Sorry, I’m getting kinda nutty
lately. If you have a project you need an extra set of eyes or hands for
I am around just give me an e-mail or a call. I may need a hand with
hemming my skirt later this month and in case I run into a snag. Speaking
of… I have been at my computer for much longer than planned. I must
get something done tonight.

Hi, I didn't get any responses saying that this was a
good day, so I'm withdrawing the date. I hope everyone is just overwhelmed with getting all

Hi,
I just got back from WA! Actually, I may be able to meet up with you two
tomorrow, too.
Though I may be stuck here unpacking the huge shipment of ethnic art we just
"inherited"
from my in-laws that arrived today.
Anyway, back to planning. I'd like to set up a date and time for a meeting that
most
everyone can attend. This will not be a permanent time, just something to get
us started.
So, check your calendars and tell me how does Sat. August 20th look? I'll give
a choice of
10 a.m. or 4 p.m.
Take Care,
Gwen.
Excellent! I plan to stop and grab coffee, so I will probably be there around 9:30. If there are any problems, you can reach me via cell phone: 322-7260.
The best way to get to our house from that area is to go down College Ave toward Fairfield. You will go past Hutamaki. You will be taking a left onto High St--which is the turn right before the road dips under the railroad tracks. You will then take an immediate left onto Burns St. The road is right there and it is almost like going straight across High Street. We are near the other end—it is a blue house on the left #50. We use the door with the mailbox.
We will be up, fed and ready by 9, so you can show up anytime after that. Last time I was in Marden’s they were starting to get kinda bare—they are moving into the old Walmart building very soon and they were clearing things out.
I’ll see you tomorrow. Give me a call if you have any problems getting here. 692-2300

Hi all,
Ysabiau and I will be getting together for an informal and unoffical
meeting at my house tomorrow morning at about 9 or so. If anyone else
wants to join us they are welcome. Though I warn you all--my house is
still a mess--I havn't had time to clean as much as I would like to.
Let me know in case we decide to take off and go shopping.

Morning would be great, if you can do it! Just send me directions, and let me know when you'd like some company. I can be there any time between 9- noon. Also, if you have a specific costume need, please tell me. I have some patterns and costume books, but I don't want to haul all of it around with me if I don't have to!
Do you want to meet in the morning while Maddie is at preschool or after you pick her up?

I'm glad you enjoyed them! I like scrounging for new costume sites, it's
one of the few adult things I get to do!
Please note that anyone can add photos, files or links to the group site.
Just go to Yahoo Groups, sign in (and you'll get a page showing your Groups
memberships) and go to the tailor site. If you have any trouble adding
stuff, let me know and I'll try and help.

Kim, I can meet up with you over the next few weeks, if we can try to do it on Tuesday, Weds., or Thursday. I'm not sure how much I can help, but I'm willing to try! And I could really use your help getting a correct set of measurements to start my garb.
How about until Gwen returns in Sept, Ysabiau and Kim (I don't know who else is interested??) should schedule something that works for them? Just a suggestion. Whatever time you choose will either work for me or not, but with the seasons shifting, it's not worth your time to schedule around me. I would just like to see the group meet so some people can have some fun! :-)
My current projects need to be done for
September—I’m having my wedding on the 10th, so I need
the help this month.

It’s not so much that I hate to hand
sew, it is the time involved to do so. If I had the time and patience to
do so I probably would hand sew everything. Anyways, I could do Thursday,
but I need to bring Elizabeth to her doctor for 3, so it would have to be morning to early
afternoon. If that doesn’t work then the week after would be fine.

I also prefer to have my sewing machine handy. I
don't precisely *hate* hand sewing, but I'd rather use the machine if I
can!
After all the build-up, I'm not sure about next
Friday. Suddenly, we have about 6 million things that require our attention
next weekend. I don't know how it happened, because our weekends are
usually quiet! I forgot about the Bangor State Fair, and it's looking like
next Friday is the only day we can meet up with my parents (up visiting
from the South) to go.
Is there any chance we could meet on Tuesday,
Wednesday, or Thursday? I will be in Waterville from 9 - noon, and can
easily stay through part of the afternoon. If this doesn't work, then
the week after next (Thursday or Friday) would be better for me - I will have fewer
plans and visitors!
Sorry to be a pain, Ysabiau

That wouldn’t work for me. I need
either a sewing machine or a large flat surface to lay things out and cut
pieces.

You know, I'll just throw this out for thoughts - last
week I went to watch the fighter practice over in Waterville
(Thurs eve) in the park. I happened to have my sewing along with me. It
was really quite relaxing sitting on the grass in the shade sewing. I
don't know how the fighters would feel about it, but maybe it would work to
meet in the park until we could figure out another time? Just a
thought....

What do you all think of meeting on next Friday? I am leaning towards
early afternoon (Elizabeth would still be at daycare), but late
afternoon would be OK as well if that works better for you.
Kim
I was reviewing some costume links, and discovered that the Renaissance Tailor site now has more than 4 late period pattern books scanned in and available online.
I'm not sure if any of you are interested in 1500s garb, but these books are fabulous not only for the patterns, but for the translations on how to sew the garments. I've learned a lot from slogging through the Alcega book (which has a great farthingale pattern).
Actually, I kind of lost track. I think we're back to looking at Thursday,
Friday or Saturday as a meeting day at Kim's house, and Gwen will host on a
Thursday or Friday once a month. I think. :-)
Thursday - I'm free between 9 and noon, and then during the afternoon I'd
have my daughter with me. In the evening I'd be able to stumble along on my
own. Friday, I'd have Maddie with me, but we're free all day (no evening,
not missing my SciFi night!). Most Saturdays I could make time to meet up
for an hour or two.
My schedule is very flexible. Call me Gumby!

Thanks for setting this up, Ysabiau! I did feel like we were
monopolizing the shire conversation a bit! Has there been a decision
on meeting time yet?
