Position Summary:
Short-term freelance assignment. Approximate duration of 4-6 weeks.
Basic Responsibilities:
To direct, build and develop product ideas for sweaters. Work closely with
Directors, Merchants and Product Development Teams to execute to Seasonal
Concept direction, line plan style needs, margin requirements, and completion of
product. Manage Brand Integrity through internal and external Design and Product
Development. Continue to evolve Lane Bryant's product process.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Work cross functionally with the Product Development Manager to coordinate
assortments for presentation through artwork print, fabric, silhouettes, outfit
coordination and presentation boards
• Execute development interpretation and communicate creative packages and
deadlines to internal and external teams
• R&D for new fabric, techniques
• Work with Trend Department to assure Merchants seasonal buying tool needs are
met
• Communicate Creative direction as it pertains to price and delivery to
maintain creative vision
• Initiate test recommendations on a seasonal and ongoing basis
• Execute timelines on Development Calendar and Line Plan needs
• Travel as needed to NY, LA, store visits with Merchants
• Coordinate visual boards and samples to drive newness to the Brand
• Prepare and assist in seasonal product reviews to Sr. Management and merchant
team
• Attend Fit Meetings to maintain initial vision with product development
• Work closely with other Product teams to compliment and coordinate process,
procedures, and development needs/packages
• Manage fabric development and seasonal presentation for core category
Requirements
Experience:
• 5-7 years experience in Design within the retail industry (preferably in
sweaters)
• 4 year college degree in Design
• Knowledge of yarns and knitting machinery
• Excellent verbal and visual communication skills
• Extensive background in fit, fabric development, finishes and construction
details
• Computer skills a must – Excel / Word (PDM / Micrographx, Adobe Illustrator a
plus)
