Description

The terrain of "Eighteenth Century Worlds" is the long 18th century (1660 to 1830), its literature, music and art, society and culture. The list is an informal seminar, a "locus amoenus" in cyberspace.

Current Picture: Bertha Pappenheim, als Gluckel of Hameln (1647-1719)

Current reading: Crabbe's tales; Christine Pevitt Algrant, Madame de Pompadour; Annette Gordon-Reed, The Hemingses of Monticello; David Nokes's biography of Samuel Johnson. Alternative: Munro Price, The Road from Versailles

Future hopes: plays by women: a season of a favorite author: Behn, Gay and Goldsmith? Iris Origo's Life of Leopardi or other work on romantic/Italian authors
