Description

This group is mostly for writers of romantic fiction, but writers in all genres are welcome. The purpose of this group is to provide authors with answers to editing questions on everything from grammar and proper punctuation to point of view, plot, GMC (Goal, Motivation, and Conflict), characterization, and any other questions you might have. I don't claim to be the foremost expert on editing, but I do hope my experience in the area will be of some help.

Editors are also welcome, and encouraged, to join, and to add their expertise to the discussions.

At no time will SPAM of any kind be tolerated. Any member posting SPAM will be immediately banned from the group.

Feel free to post sentences or short paragraphs about which you have questions, but keep in mind this is not a critique group. Because our posts will be viewed by the general public, I strongly advise that you do not post excerpts, chapters, or plot summaries on this group, as it could leave you open to plagiarism by unscrupulous authors.

In addition, I want to point out that publisher styles vary. Keeping that in mind, I'm going to try to adhere mostly to grammatical rules in general, and not comment overmuch on publisher style. I am basing my answers regarding grammatical issues on the Chicago Manual of Style and Oxford English, my two "bibles" for English grammar. Any questions about a particular publisher's manuscript style should be addressed by that publisher.

So...that in mind, let's play nice, be respectful of others' opinions, and act like the professional adults we all are.

Well...any questions?

DUE TO THE RECENT INFLUX OF SPAM POSTINGS, THIS GROUP WILL NO LONGER BE PUBLIC. ONLY MEMBERS WILL BE ALLOWED TO POST, AND ALL POSTS WILL BE MODERATED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. MY APOLOGIES TO OUR MEMBERS, BUT THIS IS THE ONLY WAY I CAN KEEP OUT OBNOXIOUS POSTS.

THANKS FOR UNDERSTANDING.
