Alas, I'm no longer in the fair Citie of Eoforwic, and now dwell far from
the White Tower. However, if you do find yourself travelling in the Barony
of Ramshaven I can be found in the Canton of Der Welfengau (Guelph) and
would appreciate any opportunity to cross blades with you. I may, at some
point in the near future, be able to travel to Eoforwic and attend the
practice there. In the meantime you will, I am sure, encounter several
skilled and wily opponents in the fencers of Eoforwic, especially the
current Marshal of Fence Lady Jocelyn.

Greetings!

I would like to thank all those who participated in rapier on the Sunday of
FOOL. I hope you all had fun with the tourney format. I will continue to
tweak it to make it run more smoothly. Thank you to those who made
suggestions for said tweaking.

I would especially like to thank Lord Archibald, ever a scholar and a
gentleman, who taught a very informative class on the Bolognese tradition of
swordplay on Sunday morning despite having two badly mashed fingers. I
thought I was going to miss it as it was originally supposed to be on
Saturday and I was overjoyed to find out I could participate. As promised I
am posting a link to a page on the Bolognese school:

http://www.marozzo.org/

Another big thank you goes out to Baron Hoskuld who got a number of people
to try C&T for the first time. I really appreciate it.

Greetings unto the Lists,

I to wish to express my thanks to the Autocrat, the Event Staff, the Tavern
Keepers, and the other teachers for an excellent event.  The organizers of FOOL
2 did an excellent job in arranging a wide and diverse teaching schedule that
covered all activities found within the SCA.

I would also like to personally thank THL Odette, Lord Archibald Weatherford,
THL Albrecht Stampfer, and Baron Hoskuld Thorleiksson for stepping in and
arranging the Rapier Activities for the weekend when life unexpectly made this
difficult for me to do.

Wassail to you all,

Senor Mateo de Merida

Greetings!

I have been going through my garb and I have found that two items are
missing. The first is a dark grey jerkin (vest type thing) with about 30
silver coloured buttons down the front. The second item is a pair of beige
coloured slops (short pants) with wooden buttons at the fly. The last place
I remember seeing them was at Murder Melee. They were in a plastic bag along
with a shirt. I have found the bag and the shirt, but the other items have
not turned up yet. My fencing bag was under the shade fly for most of the
day. I know it's a bit late in the game but I was hoping someone might have
spotted it or perhaps it ended up with someone else's gear by accident. If
anyone knows anything please let me know. I sewed all 30 + buttons on that
jerkin myself and I would really like it back.

Albrecht

p.s. The slops had a very brightly coloured set of suspenders attached to
them.

I have stepped up as Autocrat.
That being a very full time occupation I am hoping to seek out other marshals to
help Lady Adelle with authorizations .

We regret to advise that we won't be able to assist this time as we are
unable to attend Coronation. We've got family obligations that will keep us

We're really very sorry too!

Peerage Survey for Non-Rattan Combat

The populace of the Society is invited to participate in a survey to
determine if there is support for the notion of Peerage recognition
for fields of Society Martial Arts other than Rattan combat. If you
feel that those who display Peer-like behavior in such fields as
Fencing, Archery, Siege Engineering, Equestrian, etc are worthy of
Peerage recognition, or believe that they do not, we invite you to
make your opinion known, and would ask that you invite others to
express their views on the matter as well. This survey will be
presented to the BoD for their consideration. Please take the Survey
at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SCAPeerageSurvey/

Please feel free to cross post as you will. The more opinions the

Sorry, but there have been some glitches and shutdowns in the survey due to
the overwhelming response. Please try again and be patient, and thank you
for your opinions.

The more opinions the
better.

Fencers,

I'm pleased to announce that AEMMA will start offering classes in
Rapier fencing starting in October.

The instructor is Beau Brock who recently moved to Toronto to pursue
post graduate studies at U of T. Beau studied Cappo Ferro at Academie
Duello in BC, He is both a capable fencer and effective teacher, having
received his red cord degree at Academie Duello.

AEMMA has ranked him as a visiting Scholar and granted him a license to
teach Rapier at the AEMMA Salle D'Armes.

AEMMA / Fighting Arts Collective membership is required to attend the
classes.

Those interested should complete a practice visit request by visiting
www.aemma.org

Academie Duello's pedagogical method is quite good and their version
of Capo Ferro is a very thorough understanding of the subject. If you
can, I'd strongly recommend you joining up (even if it makes you much
more likely to kick my ass).
