From theater games to role plays to full-scale productions, language teachers throughout the world have long recognized the value of drama in all its forms.
Building upon TESOL-Drama's 2006 Electronic Village Online Workshop, "DRAMA in SLA," 2005's, "Effective Techniques for Teaching English Through Drama," and 2004's, "Let's Put on a Play," our workshop this year will focus on the value and use of READERS' THEATER in language training.

Session Outline
Week One:Who are we and what are our drama interests/needs?
Week Two:Readers’ theater as an effective tool in language teaching.
Week Three: Poetry, chants and short stories as readers’ theater material.
Week Four: Initiating and developing students’ material.
Mounting a production.
Week Five: The rehearsal process and professional acting techniques applicable to ESL/EFL readers’ theater.
Week Six: Participant contributions of readers’ theater material. Final evaluations and discussion.
